Uraddi Classified ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Uraddi Classified mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our App.
Summary: We collect only the data needed to run the marketplace. We never sell your personal data to third parties. You can delete your account and data at any time.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: Name, email address, phone number, and password when you register
- Profile information: Business name, profile photo, store location description
- Listing information: Photos, titles, descriptions, prices, categories, and location of items you list for sale
- Messages: Content of messages you send to other users through our in-app chat
- Payment information: M-Pesa phone number used for transactions (we do not store M-Pesa PINs or passwords)
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device information: A unique device identifier for anonymous browsing before registration
- Location data: Only when you grant permission, to show nearby listings or set your listing location
- Usage data: Which listings you view, search queries, and app interaction patterns
1.3 Information from Third Parties
- Google Sign-In: If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google
- Facebook Login: If you sign in with Facebook, we receive your name and email from Facebook
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Display your listings to potential buyers
- Enable communication between buyers and sellers
- Process M-Pesa payments for listing promotions and pins
- Show you relevant listings based on your location and preferences
- Send you important notifications about your listings and messages
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and enforce our terms of service
- Improve and develop the App
3. How We Share Your Information
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With other users: Your listing details, name, and phone number (if provided) are visible to other App users so they can contact you about your listings
- Payment processing: Your M-Pesa phone number is shared with Safaricom's M-Pesa API to process payments
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or government request
- Safety: To protect the rights, safety, or property of Uraddi Classified, our users, or the public
We do NOT: Sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties. We do not share your data with data brokers. We do not use your data for targeted advertising from third-party ad networks.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Your data is stored securely on Cloudflare's infrastructure
- Authentication tokens are stored in your device's encrypted secure storage (not plain text)
- Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
- All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
- We implement access controls to limit who can access user data
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: You can view your personal data in the App's Profile section
- Update: You can update your name, phone number, business information, and profile photo at any time
- Delete listings: You can delete any listing you have created
- Delete account: You can request account deletion by contacting us at the email below. We will delete your account and associated data within 30 days
- Location: You can deny or revoke location permissions through your device settings
- Notifications: You can manage notification preferences through your device settings
6. Data Retention
- Active account data is retained as long as your account exists
- Deleted listings are removed from public view immediately
- Chat messages are retained for 12 months after the last activity in a conversation
- Payment records are retained for 24 months for legal and accounting purposes
- After account deletion, all personal data is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly.
